Moritz Ebinger | the loneliness of the rhinoceros

Music festival: Saturday, 7th of January, 15.00 h.

On Moritz Ebinger and "The loneliness of the rhinoceros” a long poem or a novel can be written. Give Moritz the word and you're taken into a dizzying series of visual associations that they are unequaled.

Ask him why he started to build a rhinoceros at KiK than his first reaction is "I don’t know why”. Then he begins on the birth of a rhinoceros in the zoo of Amersfoort, after which he effortlessly switches to the threat to the species as found in China thinks that pills and powders made  from the horns, potency and fertility-enhancing would work. Hunters brutally cutting and sawing the horns of the animals and let the rest of the body to rot behind colossal horns for many thousands of dollars to receive, after which he proposes to serve during the opening a rinoceros diner.

The week started in KiK Moritz saw a beautiful picture of a rhinoceros transportation in the Volkskrant. Hanging upside down on a long cable, a helicopter brought the endangered animal to a sanctuary where the animal could reproduce carefree vision. Even in natural history museums have horns violently robbed.

The copy in KiK does not need to fear.

Aided by Michael van der Schijff, the original South African volunteer from KiK, he builds a life-size rhinoceros. Moritz from a variety of photos and Michael directly from memory. So to speak, he saw them walking around in his backyard.

Dan Geesin | Models and Metaphores

Dan Geesin is from the second of September at work at KiK.

I am not sure if my interest in the silhouette my weakness is or my strength, but I am sure I am not a sculptor. It's rare that I can work in such a beautiful space like KiK. It's interesting for me to return to the spatial work: the focus on close to a scenic view. The vastness of the landscape at KiK and the width of heaven is what primarily attracted me to KiK.

Sara Blaylock | Dik Bouwhuis

Mapping Micros | Tourist Landscapes
This project is part of the European Pépinières program

Sara Blaylock, the American guestartist who arrived the 23th of May at KiK, zooms during her working period in on a little ribbon village named Kolderveen.

'In spite of its 2km size, more than a dozen small businesses jam the forty odd houses that comprise the town of Kolderveen. Private homes harbor the small businesses, making Kolderveen a striking example of both convenience and enterprise in a rural environment which profits from a healthy tourist clientele each summer. Among its offers: an organic farm (Lachaím, no. 16), nursery (Bert Visscher, no. 21) and a chocolate factory (Chocolate & Zo, no. 30a).'

This project is enabled bij TransArtists and Fonds BKVB via the European Pépinières program.

Karin van Pinxteren - ‘The Hostess, The Commissionaire and The Caretaker’

1 maart – 13 mei 2011

I can open, store and show’.
